Visiting Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S.Jaishankar held bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Republic Building on 06 January 2021. During the cordial discussions, a gamut of issues covering multiple areas of bilateral cooperation was taken up, including economic, financial, trade and investment cooperation, cultural exchanges, defence and security, development cooperation as well as Covid 19 pandemic response.
India is ready to give priority to Sri Lanka when supplying to other countries the vaccine now being produced by India to treat COVID 19 virus, the External Affairs Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar told President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The Department of Government Information said, Sri Lanka’s Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (4 January) has approved the proposal to draft ‘Colombo Port City Commission Bill’ in accordance with the structure desired by the Government to meet national requirements and to attract foreign investments. The proposal has been tabled by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
It is our responsibility in the New Year 2021 to work together as Sri Lankans shedding all differences to safeguard the dignity, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka while maintaining ‘Kalyana Mithra’ friendly relations with all countries of the world, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena stated in his message for the New Year.
