Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe hosted a luncheon to high officials of the US Department of Defence today, 27 June 2022 at his residence.

Department of Defence was represented by Ms. Lindsey W. Ford, Deputy Assistant Secretary (Policy), Ms. Amy Van Buren Rhodes, Under Secretary of Defence (Policy)–India and Sri Lanka and Mr. Sid Iyer, Director for South Asia.

The Ambassador briefed the Department of Defence delegation on the strong bilateral relations that exist today between Sri Lanka and the US and thanked the DOD delegation for assistance in capacity building in the areas of maritime, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.  Ambassador also thanked DOD for the third coastguard cutter that was donated recently to the Sri Lankan Navy.  Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Rohana Ambagolla and Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremerathne was associated at the meeting.
