‘Destination International 2021’ Annual Convention, mainly focusing on solutions for a globally post-pandemic recovery in the tourism sector, was held at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor 13-15 July. Due to the past two years been filled with extraordinary challenges, which negatively impacted destination organizations, ‘Destinations International’ drew much attention in the US travel circuit and sought to make members and their destinations successful. The event was attended by over 700 persons, representing over 50 countries covering all continents.
The Sri Lanka Embassy represented by Third Secretary Piyumal Weerasinghe, who oversees tourism promotion, met with Baltimore Mayor B. M. Scott & ‘Destination International 2021’ CEO Don Welsh and had discussions with influential destination leaders in the USA and promoted Sri Lanka Tourism’s ‘Hello Again’ campaign, aimed at attracting US tourists in the up-coming season.
As the world's largest and most reliable resource for destination organizations, ‘Destination International’ seeks to inform, connect, inspire and educate their members with the goal to drive destination economic impact, job creation, community sustainability and quality of life through travel. The annual convention imparted valuable resources and tools to help destination organizations recover from the disruptions caused by the pandemic.
