To commemorate the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away of Lord Buddha, Embassy staff under the patronage of Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe celebrated Vesak at the Embassy premises on 5th May 2023. 

The programme commenced with the offering of flowers, incense and Gilanpasa to Lord Buddha and followed by Buddha Vandana Gatha.

To provide traditional Vesak ambience, the Embassy premises were brightly decorated with Vesak lanterns, Buddhist flags and lights.

Following this event, Ambassador Samarasinghe and the staff also celebrated Vesak at Washington Buddhist Vihara on 7th May 2023, the events of the day concluded with “Vesak Bhakti Gee” performed by the Ambassador, Diplomatic officers and Embassy staff.
