The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the United States, in collaboration with the International Club of DC, hosted a vibrant evening reception on 6th September 2024 at the Embassy premises in Washington D.C., promoting Sri Lanka as a key tourist and investment destination among US nationals during the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere. Members of the Club and special invitees attended the event.

Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe extended his seasonal greetings to the audience both attended virtually and in person and recalled the milestones that Sri Lanka Embassy achieved during the year 2022 whilst acknowledging the in-kind assistance provided by the International Non-Government Organizations in the US in coordination with the Embassy. During his speech, Ambassador Samarasinghe enunciated that Christmas is the time to forge bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood and Sri Lanka is a multi-religious, multi-lingual and multi-ethnic society and nothing exemplifies this multicultural diversity more than the season of goodwill, peace and harmony.
Msgnr. John Paul Pedrera, representing the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington D.C. stressed that the universality of the message of Christmas was unity among all peoples of the world following the invoking of blessings to the audience.
The United States of America with the concurrence of the Government of Sri Lanka has appointed Ms. Julie J. Chung as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Sri Lanka based in Colombo. She has presented credentials to H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka on 25 February 2022 at 4.00 p.m. at the President’s House, Colombo 01.
