At Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe’s invitation, Kenji Okamura, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) who is responsible for policy decision-making for Asia, including Sri Lanka, and his team met with senior Sri Lankan officials participating in the IMF’s annual meeting in Washington DC. The Ambassador hosted the meeting on 17 October at the Sri Lanka Residence in the U.S. Capital.
Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, Ajith Abeysekera, Director-General of the Department of External Resources, Kapila Senanayake, Director-General of the Department of Fiscal Policy, Sri Lanka’s Alternate Executive Director to the IMF, P.K. Harischandra, Deputy Chief of Mission Rohana Ambagolla and Head of the Commercial Section, Minister Charitha Yattogoda were associated with Ambassador Samarasinghe at the meeting.
Joining Deputy Managing Director Okamura were Krishna Srinivasan, Director for the Asia-Pacific Region, Peter Breuer, Senior Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, Sanjaya Panth, Deputy Director for the Asia-Pacific Region and Chad Steinberg, Advisor to the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF.
