Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe visited the Sri Lankan Art & Cultural Museum, located in Staten Island, and met with Julia Wijesinghe, founder of the Museum during his recent visit to New York.
The museum is dedicated to Sri Lankan culture and celebrates and educates visitors about Sri Lankan heritage. The museum is associated with the Lakruwana restaurant, owned by Julia’s family, which serves traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Julia was inspired to establish the museum to connect with her Sri Lankan roots and share this heritage with others.
The Ambassador took the opportunity of meeting with a cross section of Sinhala/Tamil/Muslim origin Sri Lankan Americans and briefed them on the latest developments in Sri Lanka. Ambassador Samarasinghe thanked the community for their continued assistance to Sri Lanka and appreciated their outreach to Congressmen/Senators in their respective districts sharing with them factual Information on Sri Lanka.
