Update on current situation in Sri Lanka -Kandy returns to normalcy

March 21, 2018 at 11:27 am

Sri Lanka has fully returned to normal after the recent unrest in a part of the Kandy District and all activities including tourism have returned to normal, states the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

The State of Emergency which was imposed purely as a precautionary measure to contain any untoward situation has now been fully removed.

Temporary restrictions imposed on social media platforms have also been permanently lifted.

Kandy is now as safe for tourists as any other part of the country and the relevant government authorities have assured full security. Therefore, there are no restrictions on visiting any part of the country and tourists are especially encouraged to visit Kandy.

The Ministry of Tourism Development calls upon the Heads of Missions of the countries that issued temporary travel advisories to initiate measures to withdraw them as soon as possible as there is no longer any justification for such since the situation is now back to normal and full security ensured for tourists.
