Sri Lanka Ambassador to the United States His Excellency Mr. Jaliya Wickramasuriya and the staff of Sri Lanka Embassy, organized a “Sath Budhu Wandana” Buddhist religious ceremony on Saturday (Jan 7) at the Sri Lanka Residence, Washington DC.

The purpose of the event was to invoke blessings to President His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa and to all Sri Lankans in the United States and elsewhere.
The event organized to coincide with the 2600th Anniversary of Lord Buddha’s first visit to Sri Lanka, was conducted by venerable Bandarawela Seela Viweka thero of Mahamewna Buddhist Monastery in California.
The Event was attended by about 200 Sri Lankan American Buddhist and non-Buddhist residents in the United States.
Copies of an audio compact disc containing Buddhist sermons of venerable Kiribathgoda Gnanananda thero produced under the auspices of Ambassador Wickramasuriya were distributed among the participants as a “Dharma Dana” following the religious activities

අතිගරු ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා ඇතුළු සියළුම ශ්රි ලාංකික ජනතාවට සහ ඇමරිකාවේ වෙසෙන සියළු ශ්රි ලාංකිකයන්ටත් සෙත්පතා අසිරිමත් සත් බදු වන්දනාවක් ඇමරිකාවේ ශ්රි ලංකා තානාපති ජාලිය වික්රමසූරිය මැතිතුමා, එම මැතිණිය ප්රධාන කාර්්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් ජනවාරි 7 වෙනි දින, වොෂිංටන් නුවරදී පැවැත්වීය.
අමාමහ බුදු පියාණන් වහන්සෙගේ ප්රථම ශ්රි ලංකාගමනයට වසර 2600 ක් සැපිරීමට සමගාමීව මෙම පූජෝත්සවය පවත්වනු ලැබුවේ වොෂිංටන් නුවර ශ්රි ලංකා තානාපති නිළ නිවෙස්දිය.
පූජොත්සවය මෙහෙයවනු ලැබුවේ කැලිෆොනියාවේ මහමෙව්නාව භාවනා අසපුවේ වැඩවසන පුජ්ය බන්ඩාරවෙල සීල විවේක ස්වාමින් වහන්සේ විසිනි.ඇමරිකාවේ වෙසෙන බෞද්ධ, අබෞද්ධ ශ්රි ලංකික අමෙරිකානුවන් 200 කට ආසන්න පිරිසක් මෙම පිංකමට සභාගිවිය.
පිංකම අවසානයේදි ධර්ම දානයක් ලෙස මහමෙව්නාව අසපුවේ නිර්මාතෘ පුජ්ය කිරිබත්ගොඩ ඤාණාන්ද ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ සුමධුර ධර්ම දේශණා ඇතුලත් සංයුක්ත තැටියක් සභාගිවු අයට තානාතිපතිතුමාගේ අනුග්රහයෙන් බෙදාදෙන ලදි.
