A group of Sri Lankan descent American youth performed a traditional Kandyan Drums Orchestra at the 10th Annual Cultural Celebration organized by the South Asian American Employee Association of the U.S. Department of State on 01st of August 2019.



The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C. hosted the Sri Lankan Scout Contingent of about 150 participated at the 24th World Scout Jamboree held in West Virginia, the United States from 22 July 2019 - 02 August 2019, at the Mission premises.

Addressing the Plenary of the Second Ministerial for Advancing Religious Freedom hosted by the US State Department on 18 July 2019 in Washington D.C., Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States, Rodney Perera, while thanking delegations present for their expression of sympathy, solidarity and support, mentioned that the people of Sri Lanka have lived side by side amicably irrespective of ethnic and religious differences for centuries, and that they continue to do so.

Ambassador - designate of Sri Lanka to the United States of America, Rodney Perera assumed duties at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington DC on 17th June 2019. Prior to appointment as the Ambassador to the US, Ambassador Perera was Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union.
