An explosion occurred in Karadiyanaru in Batticaloa on 17th September 2010 when a container laden with explosives used to blast rocks belonging to a Chinese company engaged in road construction, accidentally exploded when it was on the verge of leaving, triggering a chain reaction resulting in the explosion of three containers.
