Prof.Peiris addresses Diplomatic Corps

Prof. G.L.Peiris, Minister of External Affairs, addressed Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls at his Ministry recently.

The Minister briefed the diplomatic community on a wide range of issues connected with matters referred to in the ‘Darusman Report’, the Channel-4 footage, the implications of illicit migration, the government’s current initiatives in both the political and economic spheres, the outcome of the recently concluded local elections, ongoing political discussion with Tamil parties, progress in respect of rehabilitation of ex-combatants, and further measures to consolidate the advantages of peace and political stability.

Associated with him at this briefing were Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksha, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Mohan Peiris Attorney General PC, Mr. Suhada Gamlath, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Legal Reforms and Mr. S.B.Divarathne, Secretary Presidential Task Force for the Resettlement, Development and Security in the Northern Province.
